Did you even look at the link I provided? Yes, this pay raise happened. The lie is that it is first pay military raise in 10 years or nine years or whatever. There was a pay raise military pay raise last year, the year before that, the year before that, the year before that, and so on.

Look, anyone can check this out and see that you are lying about this. There’s no point to it.

Of course, in Trumpy fashion you are shifting your own story. Your previously said “He got the largest DOD bill pasted with the first pay raise for our troops in 10 years.” Now you are changing your story, describing it not at the first in ten years, but the largest in about ten years.

Come talk to me when you can keep your lies straight. As the chart I linked shows, pay raises from 2008–2010 were 3.5%, 3.9%, and 3.4%, all substantially larger than this one by Trump.

Of course, the truth is no President should get credit for this. The pay raises are set by law based on on inflation as reflected by the Labor Department’s Employer Cost Index. Which leads to another point.

Trump tried and failed to get a lower pay raise than provided for by this law. Under the law the president can request a different amount for the pay raise than suggested by the law. Congress can pass President request which would override the automatic adjustment.

Trump attempted to do exactly that, requesting a military pay increase of only 2.1%, substantially below the 2.6% mandated by law. The higher amount was done only because Congress would not play along with the President’s demand. Congress deserves credit for defying the President’s attempt to cheat the military out of the pay raise suggested by law. https://www.factcheck.org/2018/05/the-president-and-military-pay-raises/

That Trump took credit for this, and you give him credit, is just another reflection of the inherent dishonesty of this President and his supporters.
