After less than five hours of deliberation a jury today unanimously concluded that Donald Trump sexually abused/assaulted E Jean Carroll. The jury filled out the following jury form.

The jury answered “no” to Question 1, but “yes” to Questions 2 and 3. The jury concluded Carroll was injured and awarded her damages of $2 million for the sexual assault.

The jury also found that Trump defamed Carroll when claiming she lied about her allegations against him and notoriously said he wouldn’t rape her because she was not his type. The jury found Trump’s defamation was done with actual malice. Additional damages for the defamation raised the total award to Carroll to about $5 million.

Earlier today I explained why a verdict find Trump liable was likely.

As for the reason the jury voted “no” on rape but “yes” on the others, I’ll just leave you this explanation.

A jury has now found the leading Republican candidate for the Presidency sexually abused and assaulted a woman. Is the Republican Party so low that he will remain a viable candidate?
