Mad As A March Hare: Trump’s Paranoid Twitter Meltdown (March 4, 2017 Edition).
Many have questioned the mental stability of President Trump. His early morning Twitter rants are legendary and I previously posted here, just a couple of weeks ago, a post-Valentine’s Day Twitter meltdown. But this morning he has taken it to new levels as he moves from divorced from reality narcissism to flat our terrifying paranoia.
Before getting to that, let’s just start with a fun one. I had hopes that Trump would actually temper his petty personal attacks on Twitter and become more Presidential after his February 28 speech to Congress. In that speech he at least sounded like he would abandon petty personal feuds on Twitter declaring “The time for trivial fights is behind us.” Try to reconcile those words with this gem from this morning.
Such petty nonsense does not stand as Presidential material. However, it is at least harmless. Trump’s series of early morning Tweets preceding his random assault on Schwarzenegger are off the charts paranoid batty as he accuses former President Obama of tapping his phones.
You may wonder where our version of “Dear Leader” is getting this wacky stuff from. Surely when making such an allegation he has his evidence lined up from rock solid sources! Or alternative factly, maybe he just got it from a report last night on ultra-right wing Breitbart.com. So where did Breitbart get it? From claims published by even the further right wing and prior source of fake news, Heatstreet.com. The owner of that website, and author of this particular article, at least acknowledges using drugs that “messed with” her brain and “had long-term mental health effects” on her.
The Heatstreet article, with no credible sources of its own, claims the Obama administration submitted a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act request for a computer server in Trump Tower to trace alleged ties of the Trump empire to Russia. There is no actual proof for the Heatstreet claim and even if there were they allege only efforts to tap a computer server, not Trump’s phone.
The bottom line is that the only thing so far supporting Trump’s early morning paranoid Twitter rant are fake news sites citing other fake news sites.
