Jacob Chansley burst into the American consciousness as the almost comical guy with the painted face, bare chest and horned headgear in the Capitol insurrection. He was infamously pictured at Vice President Pence’s rostrum in the Senate chamber. It’s tempting to think of him as a mostly benign loon.
On Thursday prosecutors filed a detention memo seeking to hold him without bail. The 17 page memo provides real insight into the government’s views on this “insurrection” (a word used by the memo nine times to describe what happened). The memo provides chilling insight into both prosecutor’s belief about the insurrection in general, and Chansley’s role in it. It’s true that Chansley is crazy, but it’s a dangerous crazy.
The Intent of the Insurrectionists Included Assassination
The memo minces no words here. What happened on January 6th was “a violent insurrection that attempted to overthrow the United States Government. The memo states there is “strong evidence” that “the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States Government.”
QANon Is Behind This And Is Dangerous.
Part of what makes Chansley so dangerous is that he is a leader of QANon which the memo directly describes as a “dangerous anti-government conspiracy“ that believes “global elites are running the world, that United States leaders are part of a secret rings of child abusers who practice satanic worship, and other debunked theories.” In describing Chansley, (who claims title of “QANon Shaman”), as a leader of QANon the prosecutors describe him as “radicalized follower-turned-leader of a dangerous extremist group.” According to Chansley “Vice President Pence is a child-trafficking traitor.” The prosecutors reference a threatening note left by Chansley for Pence at his rostrum.
It’s Not Over.
The prosecutors assert that Chansley believes “the insurrection is still in progress and he intends to continue participating.” The prosecutors and the FBI believe Chansley is right. According to the memo “the FBI has received information indicating that “armed protests” are being planned at all 50 state capitols and the U.S. Capitol inWashington, D.C. in the days leading up to President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.” In the words of the prosecutors, “the U.S. Capitol siege may just be the beginning of potentially violent actions from President Trump’s supporters.”
Notice they put this directly on “Trump’s supporters” and not Antifa, BLM or other supposedly left wing agitators. In arguing against Chansley’s release the prosecutors chillingly state, “At this juncture in our Nation’s history, it is hard to imagine a greater risk to our democracy and community than the armed revolution of which Chansley has made himself the symbol.”
Chansley Illustrates Just How Crazy QANon Is.
The prosecutors characterize Chansley as a mentally ill leader of the QANon movement. They extensively quote him from YouTube videos he posted and it is clear this guy has lost his vertical hold (if you know what I mean).
“So in order to beat this evil occultic force you need a light occultic force you need an occultic force that is of the side of God of love on like almost like on the side of the Angels OK as opposed to the demons all right and so as a shaman I am like a multi-dimensional or hyper-dimensional being okay I am able to perceive multiple different frequencies of light beyond my five senses and it allows me to see into these other higher dimensions that these entities these pedophiles these rapists these murderers these really high up people that they almost like hide in the shadows in nobody can see that because the third eye ain’t open okay and that’s where things like fluoride and stuff like that comes in . . . Q sent me, this shows the the the secret war in the behind the scene. Hey if you don’t know who Q is Q is the highest levels of the military in the intelligence community disseminating above top secret information to pay attention to the republic so we can take our country back from globalists and communists and satanists.”
