The Oklahoma-Trump Bible Grift

The most recent Republican grift operation again uses Bibles. This time taxpayer bought Bibles. Taxpayer money that will be kicked back to Donald Trump. Here’s how the grift works.

Oklahoma is preparing to buy 55,000 Bibles to put in public schools. However, not just any Bible will do. The Superintendent of Oklahoma’s education system has very specific and particular requirements for the Bibles that must be purchases. These requirements are:

Bibles must be the King James Version; must contain the Old and New Testaments; must include copies of the Pledge of Allegiance, Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights; and must be bound in leather or leather-like material.”

If the Bibles in your own home don’t meet all these requirements don’t feel bad, very few do. In fact, it may be the case that only one does. That would be the Trump endorsed Lee Greenwood “God Bless the U.S.A. Bible,” commonly called “The Trump Bible.” For his endorsement Trump gets a share of sales. So the people of Oklahoma’s tax money is going to enrich Trump.

What’s more, the Trump Bible costs $60 each. Paperback versions of the King James Bible can be purchased online for as little $2.99. The Bible is available for free to download on online and any number of free apps provide for that. This really is not about educating our children, or even getting the Bible in schools. This is all about Oklahoma politicians using taxpayer money to endear themselves to Trump.

$3 million has been requested for Trump Bibles in the 2026 state budget. That comes out to most of them, 50,000 Bibles. Maybe a bulk discount gets them to 55,000.

You may wonder what other religious texts Oklahoma will spend 60 bucks a pop on to flood their schools with. The Koran? The Book of Mormon? The Rig Veda? The Tripitaka? Perhaps (in the interest of equal time) The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? The answer to all those is NO!
