All The Times Trump Used “Infest” In His Tweets.
Over the weekend Trump’s poorly aimed attacks on Congressman Elijah Cummings again brought attention to he use of the word “infest,” or derivatives of it, and who he is attacking when he uses it. Like a poor archer, Trump’s arrows were not on target to Cummings, but smeared the entire city of Baltimore. I searched the Trump Twitter Archive for every time he used “infest” in a tweet. What follows is a complete presentation of all of them.
The “Ebola infested areas of Africa” referred to are obviously populated with almost only black people. His tweet attacks Obama, a black person.
Next up a two parter.
The people supposedly bringing the crime infestation, and heavy “breeding concept” in this tweet are brown people. This is one of many tweets from Trump smearing illegal immigrants generally as dangerous criminals. It also panders to the white supremacist fear of racial minorities out breeding white people.
MS-13 is a viciously violent organized crime cartel of Hispanic origins (El Salvador). MS-13 is loathed by all, supported by no one, but Trump often tries to smear illegal immigrants generally with MS-13 and falsely characterizes Democrats as supporting the gang. As if MS-13 members vote. It’s funny how Trump emphasizes this one gang above all others, to include the traditional mafia. Gosh, what could be the difference?
This tweet was directed at the four freshman ultra-liberal minority members of Congress known as “The Squad.” They are Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib. All are brown or black. The fact depraved nature of the tweet is reflected in the fact that three of them were born in the United States. However, the “totally broken and crime infested places” to which the President refers are countries comprised mostly of black or brown people. The President’s inspirational leadership with this tweet prompted a mob at his rally in North Carolina to start a racist “send her back” chant about Ilhan Omar. Trump basked in it.
This tweet is directed against Representative Elijah Cummings, who is black. His District, which includes most of Baltimore, is 95% urban and 59% black. His race baiting smearing of an entire, historic, American city was a new low for Trump. The “infested” language, being directed so often at urban blacks, cannot be an accident.
Here’s a montage of the people Trump is talking about or attacking when he uses this word. See if you can find a pattern.
