For some this could be a tough read. I’d like to introduce you to a man named Stephen Harmon. By the accounts of those who new him he was a generous, loving and God worshipping man, a credit to his church and community.
He was 34 years old when he died the day before yesterday of Covid. He was an antivaxer who mocked the need for vaccines, suggesting he would put his faith in God to protect him first. He was sometimes public in his contempt for vaccines.
On June 3d, yes just over a month ago, he tweeted: “If you’re having email problems, I feel bad for you, son. I got 99 problems but a vax ain’t one.”
On July 8th, just over two weeks ago, he mocked Biden’s plan to encourage neighbors to visit others to educate them on vaccines. Harmon tweeted: “Biden’s door to door vaccine “surveyors” really should be called JaCovid Witnesses. #keepmovingdork.”
Four days later he acknowledged he had Covid and that it was bad. On July 12th Harmon tweeted: “Well not the greatest update I’ve ever received. Still diagnosed w/ Covid pneumonia + now bacterial pneumonia cause you know go hard or go home. Just had to have the hard convo about what should be done if I become unconscious in this process since my oxygen dependency is worse.”
Less than a week later the doctors wanted to intubate him, but he refused saying he would rely on God. On July 18th the tweeted: “If you don’t have faith that God can heal me over your stupid ventilator then keep the Hell out of my ICU room, there’s no room in here for fear or lack of faith!”
Three days later on July 21st Harmon abandoned his reluctance to intubated. He tweeted: “i’m choosing to going under intubation, i’ve fought this thing as hard as i can but unfortunately it’s reached a point of critical choice & as much as i hate having to do this i’d rather it be willingness than forced emergency procedure. don’t know when i’ll wake up, please pray.”
That was his last tweet. He died later that day. He had everything going for him in his fight against Covid. He was young and healthy until Covid. He had only one thing against him. He refused to be vaccinated.
Please, please get vaccinated.
