Two days after his inauguration Donald Trump appointed Federico Klein to a State Department position for which Klein was granted Top Secret clearance. He served in that position until January 19, 2021, resigning the day before Biden’s inauguration. So on January 6th Klein was still in his Top Secret clearance job that Trump appointed him to.
Yesterday (Thursday, March 4th) Klein was arrested in connection with the Capitol Hill riot. The charges include assaulting police officers to include assaulting them with a police shield that he stole. The charging documents also state that there are multiple videos of this member of the Trump Administration “inciting the mob.”
For two weeks after he participated in an insurrection, and (per charging documents) violently assaulted police with a dangerous or deadly weapon, this guy remained in the Trump Administration, collecting his tax payer funded salary. Prior to Trump’s appointment of him to this position Klein was employed by the Trump Campaign.
Can you imagine if this were reversed? Suppose a Biden appointee with a top secret clearance was arrested in a BLM riot. Can you imagine what Republicans in Congress would be saying? Can you imagine what Hannity, Tucker, and Pirro on Fox would be saying?
Can you imagine what Trump would be saying?
