Wisconsin Fake Electors Admit To Trying To Steal The Election

Some legitimate electors in Wisconsin sued the slate of fake electors there for attempting to defraud voters of their vote. After failing in various motions to dismiss, all the electors settled today. You can read the settlement HERE.

No money was exchanged in the settlement. However, the electors admit “that Joseph R. Biden, Jr. won the 2020 presidential election and that we were not the duly elected presidential electors for the State of Wisconsin for the 2020 presidential election.” The electors also agree to never serve as any kind of elector again and to cooperate fully with any DOJ investigations.

The settlement also releases a trove of documents associated with the scam. One is particularly chilling. An elector explains the timing of their meeting to a colleague saying, “they don’t want to have a technicality mess up the possible steal.” They were trying to steal the election, knew they were trying to steal the election, and did it anyway.

The conversation continues to reveal the ongoing unprincipled Republican amorality of the Trump era. It’s clear the elector has reservations about doing this so his colleague (who previously described the scheme as “insane”) asks him, “how do you feel about all of this?” The fake elector responds:

I feel like I have to do it otherwise there will be a target back in my own district for the chair . . . Also it could piss of the Trump base and I work for you. They don’t plan to make it public but it would be made public if I refused to show up.”

This guy later in the conversation laments that “this country’s party system is broken.” That one cause of that broken system craven, unprincipled cowards such as himself is apparently lost on him. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but did it anyway because if he didn’t he’d lose political power. He’d rather do something he knows is wrong, try to steal an election (by his own words) than “piss of the Trump base.”

The morality of the modern Republican in a nutshell.

However, here is the most depressing part in all this. The people who told the lies are admitting they were lies. Those admitting they lied include these 10 fake electors and Trump attorneys Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis and Kenneth Chesebro. But here’s the remarkable thing. The people they told those lies to somehow still believe the lies. I mean, think about. It’s simply amazing. What is wrong with people?
